Baptism.

The first step any new disciple of Jesus is encouraged to take is baptism into water. Though baptism does not earn you salvation, it is a way to declare to your family, friends, and to the world that you are "not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" (Rom. 1:16 ESV). It is a public declaration of (1) your faith in the gospel's message and (2) obedience to the gospel's example. Baptism is also a symbolic act showing what has happened on the inside: the washing away of sins. We believe baptism is reserved for those who truly confess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
